Re: My BK friend is confused

16 Jun 2009

Tell your friend that he is right, there is a lot of garbage on this web site, but there are also a lot of gems, a lot of facts, and a lot of interesting perspectives because it is an open discussion. There is lots of documentation and history (which you can print off - give him something factual, a...

Re: The influence of Catholicism etc on one's becoming a BK

15 Jun 2009

Perhaps one of the reasons there is a total of three Italian Brahmins in Italy is because the Italian population has already dealt with the biggest religious cult in the world- the Vatican. Italians are either hardcore Catholics or hardcore skeptics, neither of which fits the psychological make-up ...

Hi Cranuta have been following this thread, and not in disagreement with anything - just would like to add, if it is not too presumptuous, that you might need to be careful not to fall into the role of 'rescuer" or any other co-dependency. Keep an eye on your own integrity, joy and freedom. Wis...

Mr Green is being disingenuous (probably mostly to himself). He is humble, and is honest with himself, and therefore is more spiritual (if that can be quantified) than 50 BK centre-in-charges

Re: Sex, sexlessness and marriage

My experience of individual BKs' attitudes to sex is that it is very much based on that person's experience (or inexperience) of it, and conditioning of their attitudes towards it. Even those who are committed to celibacy have very different attitudes, based on: - whether they were sexually active (...

I have often though how individuals do this, e.g. how certainly class (both Christian and Jew) are embarrassed by their own 'uncool' religion and then adopt Buddhism which, as something 'exotic', is consider aesthetically "cool" Yes, you are right there. In India and China, and throughout...

To clarify, are you saying you believe there is a supreme Being (a singular personality, or Supreme Soul) and He is the source of the BK Gyan, and teaches directly only through the designated medium (BB & now Gulzar), as stated in the Murli, and at no other time or place? Its just that you sound...

HI Duty Bound, interesting experiences indeed. I agree with your conclusions regarding the BKs needing to taking better care of their members. Questions came to mind as I read your post, about the consistency of your position: You say you are a 'reforming BK" and still attend centres etc. That ...

I am so confused ... I used to like so many things of BK. Now I am so lost. I don't want to lose faith. I just want to belief in a God who immensely loves me. Hi ex Brahmin may I suggest, for your own sake, that you make an effort to distinguish between your personal relationship with God (whatever...

but then what is a movie without the villains Ah, but Gyan says that a life spent posing for portrait painters for 1250 years is preferable to the rich tapestry, the light and shade, the rough and smooth textures of life here and now. If Sat Yuga is so wonderful, and all are so pure and perfect, wh...

My Sister is with the organization for seven years already and I entered because of her but left a year ago. I mistakenly thought she became a BK after you! There is a lot of emphasis in BK life about who became a BK first . From that information, the thought that came to mind was - the best thing ...

Re: 'Endemic' rape and abuse of Irish children in Catholic care

24 May 2009

Hey, points taken. Obviously there are shades of grey and variations in different jurisdictions and different areas of law. But would it not be more correct to say, even with the "givens" you list, position, prima facie evidence etc, they are presumed "charged" but not necessaril...

What an entrance! All guns blazing and damn the consequences, or "collateral damage". I understand the emotion, but I have been at the receiving end of suspicion in my work (I occasionally photograph in child care centres). We are talking about the protection of the innocent here, and that...

The Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms of the Council of Europe says (art. 6.2): "Everyone charged with a criminal offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law". I would like to turn that around somehow Unfortunately, the only...
