Brahma Kumaris or BKWSU in Islamic countries
Time to start another notepage. This time, Brahma Kumaris or BKWSU in Islamic countries where, of course, by PBK theory they ought be very at home ... even moreso thanks to the spread of Sindhi business contacts to fall back on. I also link to the topic on Indonesia.
Bahrain-based Al Hawaj Group specialises in fashion products, cosmetics and perfumes, among other luxury items. Al Hawaj stores feature designer cosmetics from Helena Rubinstein, Shiseido, Christian Dior and Chanel. Al Hawaj is a market leader, one of the largest retail corporations in Bahrain, is now forming joint retail ventures with neighbouring Qatar and was involved in heavy promotion during Formula 1 racing to increase luxury business sales.
Business Chamber board member and Al Hawaj general manager, Jawad Al Hawaj, also seemingly sponsors the Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University expansion. Al Hawaj is socially or commercially connected to Shaikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa (Director of the Office of Her Highness Shaikha Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of the King of Bahrain).
Note the natty bit of social climbing where the sponsor Al Hawaj gets to make the BKWSU statement. Or was this for the BK's own personal corporate consulting business? I am always confused which is which these days.
The Bahrain Meditation Centre is administered by the Brahma Kumaris, London and young Aruna "coordinates activities for them in the Middle East" having spent "the last 22 years focused on learning, living and teaching the art of self-development". But I thought she was a Brahma Kumari follower ... another one of Dadi's little helpers?
No mention of Destruction or the forthcoming Golden Age then?
Interestingly, she was inspired to write a nice piece about Fasting for Ramadan to enlighten the Arabs. An earlier seminar in 2003 was also sponsored by Al Hawaj and the local chamber of commerce members Devidas and Haridas. So, the BKWSU does not accept money from just anyone ... it has to be from a pure yogi our perhaps someone just really, really rich.

A TALK on stress management will be held next Saturday at the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry's conference hall in Manama.
The event is being organised by the Lions Club of Bahrain as part of its community service project. Brahma Kumaris international lecturer and Bahrain co-ordinator Aruna Ladva will be conducting the lecture.
The event is being supported by Chamber board member and Al Hawaj general manager Jawad Al Hawaj, Damodhar Devidas and Brothers and P Haridas and Sons Company.[/quote]
I noted the corporate consulting tie in with Brian Bacon, Mike George et al, remarkable for an "official" business reference from Jayanti Kirpalani herself, in another topic "The Sixth Element - More BKWSU co-prosperity?". It is always hard for me to tell when BKs are doing personal business or Brahma Kumari service and I suspect the borders are blurred ... but as long as the Yagya gets its commission, how could that against Shrimat?
Meanwhile, women's rights are a serious matter of concern in Bahrain, report the Bahrain Center for Human Rights, where all-male Sharia-based family courts exist and many are unapologetically adverse to women’s equality, female migrant domestic workers live in conditions akin to slavery under the kafala system, spousal rape is not considered a crime according to local laws there being no personal equality, women hold only 9% of positions in government institutions, and Bahraini women married to non-Bahraini spouses cannot pass their citizenship onto their children, whilst Bahraini men can ( ... but that's their karma).

JAWAD Yousif Al Hawaj yesterday announced to host a one-day seminar on "Challenging New Paradigms of Leadership," to be conducted by known meditation teacher Aruna Ladva. The seminar will be held tomorrow at 7:00pm at the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) premises.
"Most of an iceberg lies beneath the water. The direction of the water current is what moves the iceberg not the breeze on the surface. As a leader if we try to manage behaviour whilst ignoring the values, beliefs, identity, attitudes and perceptions which lie beneath and influence the behaviours, we will never be effective at managing ourselves and others," the Al Hawaj statement said.
"To truly be among leaders in the new paradigm we have to look below the surface, we have to learn to lead from within, to be stable and navigate through the current. Our values influence how we manage people. However, to motivate and harness their individual strengths, to truly lead, we have to understand their values. The first crucial step on this path is to understand ourselves," the statement added.
Aruna Ladva has been a student and teacher of meditation for just over 21 years. She works as an international freelance management trainer and is also the Director of the Bahrain Meditation Centre.
Moving her base from London to Canada (Nikki de Carteret connection with MiddlEast?) in the mid-90’s, she turned her focus to the area of Conflict Resolution and began to arrange and conduct seminars on self-development subjects.
She brings together the three key strands of the new millennium – spirituality, management/leadership development and continuous learning – in a unique blend of insight, wisdom and technique.
No mention of Destruction or the forthcoming Golden Age then?
