Re: The Story of Virendra Dev Dixit

Post22 May 2018

The Dev Dixit story continues on with a call for him to "Appear before CBI if you have nothing to hide: Delhi High Court to self-styled godman Virender Dev Dixit", after his ashram's lawyer alleged that Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chairperson Swati Maliwal was spreading fake propaganda about their institution.

The Delhi Commission for Women has also asked Interpol to issue a "Blue Notice" to locate Dixit who is thought to be in Nepal. The court asked the CBI to continue with its efforts and listed the matter for further hearing on July 27, at which members from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and the Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences (IHBAS) will report back with a review the mental and physical condition of the alleged victims. The CBI has been ordered to probe the matter by setting up a special investigation team (SIT) to take charge of all records and documents pertaining to the case.

An Interpol Blue Notice is a relatively low level call for foreign police forces to collect additional information about a person’s identity, location or activities. Unlike more serious Red and Yellow notices, it can be issued prior to criminal charges being filed.

No updates in the press as to the adult female PBK followers being held against will in various locations.
Swati Maliwal wrote:"Baba Dixit is a coward, fraud and hypocrite. He has no respect for law and even after issuing warrants and orders from court, he is not appearing in the court."

In this case, with no actually charges being made and supported by evidence, and plenty of evidence to the contrary being present, eg regarding the ages of the women, it actually does seem that that Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chairperson Swati Maliwal, and the NGO called the "Foundation for Social Empowerment" that brought the charges, are spreading false propaganda about the PBK institution, and abusing the rights of the women involved.

Re: The Story of Virendra Dev Dixit

Post17 Jun 2018

The saga rolls on. Be warned, the speed of the India legal system is such that this may take decades.

I note that the women forcibly taken from the PBK ashrams against their will are now being subjected to investigation by the AIIMS and IHBAS, to inspect the conditions at the ashrams and to ascertain the physical and mental health of its inmates.
The IHBAS is the Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences, formerly known as Hospital for Mental Diseases. It is a mental health and neurosciences research institute based in New Delhi, India.

The AIIMS is the All India Institutes of Medical Sciences a group of autonomous public medical colleges of higher education.
The PBKs' lawyer has accused the Delhi Commission for Women chairperson Swati Maliwal of spreading malicious propaganda about their institution.

It strikes me that most of the allegations about conditions at the PBKs centres could have been equally aimed at the BKs at various ocassions during their history ... if not still today ... and given Virendra Dev Dixit was previously falsely imprisoned for months, and badly treated while in there, it is no wonder he lacks faith in the legal system.
Blue corner notice issued against Dixit

The court was hearing a plea that self-proclaimed godman Virender Dev Dixit (right) had confined minors and women at the ‘spiritual university’ in Rohini. Court wants absconding self-proclaimed godman to appear before the probe agency

The Delhi High Court on Thursday questioned self-proclaimed godman Virender Dev Dixit, who allegedly confined girls and women at his Rohini ashram in the Capital, why he was in hiding since last December if he had done nothing wrong.

The CBI, which is investigating the case, told a Bench of Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice C. Hari Shankar that it has issued a blue corner notice to locate him through the Interpol.

“Why does your leader not appear before the CBI? He is absconding. Your leader is running, that too at an international level. What kind of example is he setting? Ask him to appear before the CBI. If you have nothing to hide, make your activities transparent,” the Bench remarked.

Allegation against DCW

The Bench’s observations came after the ashram’s lawyer alleged that the Delhi Commission for Women chairperson Swati Maliwal was spreading propaganda about their institution.

Maliwal statement

“Mr. Dixit is a coward, fraud and hypocrite. He has no respect for the law and even after issuing warrants and orders from [the] court, he is not appearing in court,” Ms. Maliwal had said in a statement.

When the ashram’s lawyer claimed that their spirituality prohibits them from registering their group with any statutory body, the court said, “Your spirituality is also bound by the law. If it is not in harmony with the law prescribed, then you will have to face the consequences.”

Status report

The CBI, in its status report, said that the godman has fled to Nepal along with the wife of one of his followers and the woman’s husband has said that he has no knowledge about her whereabouts.

The agency also told the court that it has asked the Interpol to issue a blue corner notice to locate him.

It said women inmates needed prior permission from Mr. Dixit before even getting a pen to write to their family or dear ones.

‘Nominate experts’

The court also directed the Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences (IHBAS) to nominate some experts to visit the ashram and inspect the conditions there to ascertain the physical and mental health of its inmates.

The court was hearing a petition by non-government organisation Foundation for Social Empowerment.

The NGO has alleged in the petition that several minors and women were being illegally confined at the “spiritual university” (Adhyatmik University) and were not allowed to meet their parents. The court had appointed a three-member panel, comprising Ms. Maliwal and advocates Nandita Rao and Ajay Verma, to inspect the Rohini ashram and its other branches in the Capital.

I have visited AIMS it is very similar in structure and function to the United States National Institutes of Health or NIH. Though the standards of the NIH are global gold standards for biomedical research, I am not sure about AIIMS. Almost every other year, a scientist from the US NIH wins the Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine. Surely the doctors and scientists at AIIMS are usually top-notch. Most of the research on the human genome project was done at the NIH or affiliation with the NIH.

Mr. G,

That's a great question, even for our BK Sisters and Brothers. One of their answers can be as follows: He has an illness in his soul and it's his karmic accounts to clean up. No other entity can intervene, because it is his personal karmas.

A key note within BKism, of which PBKism is just a subset, is the rush of adherents to make excuses for their gurus and god spirits faults and failing ... one presumes to plug up the holes in their own 'faith bubble' and stop it from deflating. An expression of psychological denial, in other words.

It's never their fault, it's just a test ... a purification ... an evil reaction from impure non-BK individuals towards their purity.

Individual BKs within the system rise to positions of prominence based on their ability to come up with plausible answers and solutions, one of which is, as you say, the beloved "purification" or karmic clearance.

Why is the "Permanent Medium of God" [PMOG] suffering such persecution? It cannot just be that he did something really dumb.

Should God fear a Indian courthouse? Sort of goes against the Draupadi story, doesn't it?

Would God do a runner from the Indian Police and Court ... well, probably 'yes' actually.

Whatever Virendra Dev Dixit has done, I don't think this trial by tabloid press is right, and certainly not most helpful for the women, nor helping in their exiting of the cult.

I hear the Indian legal system is notorious slow, so expect this to drag on for years.

Re: The Story of Virendra Dev Dixit

Post24 Jul 2018

The Virendra Dev Dixit saga rolls on with "67 Minor Girls Rescued From Rajasthan Hotel, Godman's Link Probed".

While now obviously a national campaign, I've yet to see any evidence that either the girls or their parents wanted them to be "rescued". Or, indeed, needed to be rescued from anything. It's an awful lot of assertion, with seemingly very little substance that is going to leave the women or girls in a very confused or even unfortunate state.

Other reports of the same event suggested that they strongly did not want to be moved ... police beating them into doing so. It becomes even more bizarre when it is "shock-horror" reported that 'the girls in Rajsamand were fed homeopathic medicines daily' ... which pretty much is not a problem as they have been found to have no effect at all in tests done in the West.

Even some chocolate found "was taken away for testing" ... presumably during the chief inspector of police's tea break.

I tend to think that if you have to "beat" someone to rescue you them, you are probably not actually rescuing them at all but removing them against their will.

The Brahma Kumaris remain silent on the issue, their involvement yet to be proven. Virendra Dev Dixit now appears on an official "fake Baba list", or perhaps that should be an unacceptable fake Baba list, to differentiate from the acceptable fake Baba list, Indian politician love and embrace for the sakes of their followers' votes.
Authorities meanwhile denied that police beat some girls while they were being shifted to Udaipur on Monday.

Reacting to reports that police slapped a few girls when they showed reluctance to be shifted out, Rajsamand Superintendent of Police Manoj Kumar said no force was used.

As they did not want to be shifted to a new place, they bit members of the police team and even attacked them,” Child Welfare Committee member Bhavna Paliwal told IANS on Tuesday. She also denied use of force on the girls.

Girls, aged between five and 16 years, hailing from Nepal, and many Indian states, including Chhattisgarh, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh, were rescued from the hotel by a joint team of the police and the children welfare committee (CWC) on July 4.

After 67 Minor Girls Rescued From Rajasthan Hotel, Godman's Link Probed The organisation that wrongfully confined girls has been linked to Virendra Dixit.

Jaipur: A complaint was registered after 67 minor girls were rescued from a hotel in Rajsthan's Rajsamand district last week, the police said today, even as a member of the state Commission for Protection of Child Rights asserted that the incident is linked to self-styled godman Virendra Dev Dixit's ashram.

The girls, aged between five and 16 years, hailing from Nepal, and many Indian states, including Chhattisgarh, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh, were rescued from the hotel by a joint team of the police and the children welfare committee (CWC) on July 4. The police have said they are probing if the organisation that had wrongfully confined the girls had links to Dixit.

"We have registered an FIR against unnamed accused. We are investigating whether the organisation that wrongfully confined the girls has links to Virdendra Dev Dixit," SHO Rajnagar police station Dinesh Kumar said. SP Singh, a member of Rajasthan State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, said there were links between the organisation that illegally confined the minors was linked to the ashram of self-styled godman Dixit. "The links of organisation that wrongfully confined the girls at a hotel have been found with the ashram of absconding spiritual guru Virendra Dev Dixit," Mr Singh told PTI. He said that they have written to the respective states to which the girls belong, in order to verify the identity of the girls so that they can be handed over to their biological parents only.

Mr Singh said that the girls had been secretly shifted from Sirohi to Rajsamand district.

"The functioning of organisation which wrongfully confined the girls is sanctioned for Sirohi district. They do not have the right to transport and lodge minors in other districts without prior information of the CWCs of Sirohi and Rajsamand," chairperson of children welfare committee in Rajsamand, Bhawna Paliwal, said.

According to the police, the 67 girls were rescued from Raj Mahal Hotel under Rajnagar police station limits last Wednesday. The girls belonged to Nepal and India's Haryana, Assam, Bengal, Odisha, Delhi, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Punjab, Tamil Nadu and Sikkim states. The rescued girls have been temporarily kept at a shelter home run by Asra Vikas Sansthan in Rajsamand.

The CWC had lodged a complaint with the Rajnagar police station, following which a complaint was registered against unnamed accused under IPC sections 342 (wrongful confinement), 370 (buying or disposing of any person as a slave), 370 (5) (trafficking of more than one person) and sections 42, 75 of Juvenile Justice Act on July 7.

Re: The Story of Virendra Dev Dixit

Post01 Sep 2018

The wheels of Indian "justice" roll slowly on. The latest from the Dev Dixit case ...

We read how the court had appointed the Institute of Human Behaviour and Applied Sciences (IHBAS) experts to visit the ashram and inspect, so they did and came up with ... ... ... well, nothing.

In another article, ‘Leaving family is not spiritual awakening’, the court "slammed" the AIVV for doing nothing more than Brahma Kumarism teaches and has been encouraging followers to do for 80 years ... in an almost identical repeat of accusations made against the Brahma Kumaris in 1930s and 1940s Sind.

More and more they are appearing like a kangaroo court set up to force orthodox values ... but whose values?

Do adult women not have the right to decide whether they want to leave home or not? To follow their parents' demands, or not?

Is "leaving the family" not what basically ever male Hindu holyman has done and teaches?

As much as I do not agree with the BKs/AIVV's teachings ... and the AIVV is just teaching a core form of Brahma Kumarism ... I am amazed by what the court is doing. It appears to be nothing more than acting like some Brahmanic village boss ordering dissident villagers around, interfering with them, and destroying their lives.

Everything within the AIVV lifestyle comes from and is written into BK teachings.

It appears enraged not to find the evidence it was set up to believe.

It went on to instruct the DCW and an advocate Nandita Rao to educate the women inmates of the ashram on health and menstrual hygiene. Do adult women really need educated about menstrual hygiene? Is not that just a case of the State, via the court, putting its fingers between the women's legs?

Bizarre. What are they pushing?
The Institute of Human Behaviour and Applied Sciences (IHBAS), which was earlier asked to nominate some experts to visit the ashram and inspect the conditions there to ascertain the physical and mental health of its inmates and submit a report in the court.

In the report, IHBAS director said the overall living arrangement and physical space at the ashram seemed adequate and the experts did not find any resident living under coercion.

It said that, of the 162 residents, those with medical conditions were already receiving treatment from nearly government hospitals.

"No behavioural oddities, signs of psychological distress or psychiatric disorder could be elicited on mental state examination. They themselves also did not report any such problems in the part as well as presently.

"The residents, as a group, had overvalued ideas (religious belief system) which could be attributed to their long-term association with the organisation," the report said.
“What type of spiritual awakening is this? You leave your family, parents and say this is spiritual awakening? ... Is this spiritual awakening that a daughter does not want to talk and meet her parents ... You bring 15 women here who talk so bad about their parents,” an anguished bench of Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal and C Hari Shankar said.

“Today is Guru Purnima. The first teacher of every child is parents. Show them respect,” the court remarked adding that even criminals are not treated the way the parents of the women inmates were being treated.

Another Virendra Dev Dixit story (computer translation).

Please note, you could tell the exact same story about the Brahma Kumaris 100s of times over. There is no difference between them.

Another report talks about the failure to "exit" the PBK women that the government has snatched from their ashram, showing fundemental misunderstandings about BK/PBKism. The social services where the women are being held gave them religious documents to read not even understanding that to BKs/PBKs, only the Murlis count.
Father's Baba's dream to make daughter a doctor, Chaknachur, family worried

New Delhi [JnN] A family in Lucknow wanted to make their daughter a doctor. Betty had also tried to fulfill the dream of her parents. For this, she studied day and night and passed the PMT examination for admission in medical college. But she came under the influence of her acquaintance a year ago and reached the spiritual university of Virendra Dev Dixit in Vijay Vihar. After this, Baba's Murli had an impact on her that she had forgotten her parents and was not ready to go to his house.

Frustrated couple

The kin of this young woman had reached Baba's ashram on Vijay Vihar from Lucknow on Sunday. The kin have been trying to take her with them for the last one year. Many times have come here before. Later it was revealed that she was in the ashram of Delhi. She told that a distant relative had told his daughter about Virendra Dev Dixit. Many times in Baba's satsang, that boy had taken my girl. Gradually, in her seduction she reached the Yuvati Ashram. But she wants to take her daughter with him at all costs. Due to the presence of daughter inside the ashram, there are many fears, anxiety in her mind.

Re: The Story of Virendra Dev Dixit

What's the old saying, "When you are ready to meet the master, he will appear?" or "What you seek the master, you will find him?" I cannot remember. Unfortunately, with regards Virendra Dev Dixit, it appears India's central intelligence bureau just is not ready yet.

And, in a different topic making one wonder what on earth is going on, the Delhi court slams the PBKs for ... taking too many baths, and not allowing the parents to meet their daughters so that they can take spiritual knowledge from them!?!

"The bench responded by saying that taking too many baths is not a good sign".

Surely, if the parents really want to take spiritual awakening, all they have to do is go to a local centre? WTF, India?
CBI charge-sheets 59 women of Delhi ashram

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a charge sheet against 59 women inmates of Adhyatmik Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya of the missing “Baba”, Virender Dev Dixit, who faces allegations of illegal confinement of girls and women and rape at his ashram in Rohini. The women have been charged with alleged assault and wrongful confinement of the members of a Delhi High Court-appointed Inspection Committee.

The committee had been set up for tracing three girls and also for getting the premises video-graphed on December 19 last year. The CBI had taken over three cases from the Delhi Police in January, following the High Court directive, pertaining to alleged illegal confinement of girls and women, and rape at the Rohini ashram. The agency also constituted a three-member SIT headed by a Superintendent-level officer, to probe the allegations.

While two cases are against Dixit for alleged rape and criminal intimidation, the third is against unidentified people for allegedly obstructing the work of the High Court-appointed committee.

The CBI is yet to find out Dixit’s whereabouts.
Delhi HC slams Rohini ashram for not letting girls meet their parents for the sake of ‘spiritual awakening'

Updated Jul 28, 2018

Founded by absconding self-styled godman Virendra Dev Dixit, the organisation came into public view after more than 30 girls were rescued from its ashram in Delhi's Rohini area. Delhi High Court issued the statements while hearing an NGO's plea against the organisation, Adhyatmik Vidyalaya.

Delhi: A divisional bench of the Delhi High Court on Friday lashed out at the Adhyatmik Vidyalaya ashram in Rohini where 33 minor girls were held captive by absconding godman Virendra Dev Dixit and his aides. While slamming the ashram for not allowing parents to meet their daughters for the sake of spiritual knowledge, the court suggested the ashram to teach the women of the Vidyalaya to respect humankind including parents.

Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice C Hari Shankar criticised the Adhyatmik Vidyalaya for their ways by making remarks such as “your teaching is not all correct”. The bench even asked the ashram management to explain the spiritual awakening that they have been instilling in the minor girls under their care. In addition, the court took notice of Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Swati Malliwal’s request to provide sanitary napkins to the girls in the ashram.

A doctor who is known to be an advocate for the Adhyatmik Vidyalaya told the court that the girls take regular baths to ‘maintain their sanctity’, to which the bench responded by saying that taking too many baths is not a good sign. It even asked the ashram to ensure the upkeep of proper sanitary conditions.
Delhi HC slams Virendra Dev Dixit's ashram in Rohini for not allowing parents to meet girls in the campus;says, "abandoning parents is not spiritual knowledge". Next date of hearing is Aug 10. Several girls allegedly kept under illegal confinement at ashram were rescued in Dec '17

    — ANI (@ANI) July 27, 2018
Earlier this year, a court-appointed committee along with the Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Science (IHBAS) submitted an inspection report following an audit of the Adhyatmik Vidyalaya institute. In the report, the committee has pointed out the lack of emergency and security measures in the ashram. Taking note of the recommendations, the ashram has been directed to act on the implementation of measures. It also told the institute that several parents and their daughters have personally told the bench about the practices followed by the ashram.

The court’s remarks came when it was hearing a plea filed by NGO, Foundation for Social Empowerment against the Adhyatmik Vidyalaya. Responding to the claims, the ashram’s counsel accused members of the NGO of trespassing on their property. On the other hand, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) told the bench that it is putting all of its efforts in tracing self-styled godman and founder of the Adhyatmik Vidyalaya, Virendra Dev Dixit. He has been accused of holding more than 30 girls captive at his ashram in Delhi’s Rohini area.
