Enclosed is an archive copy of one of many articles published by the BKWSU and others on the allegedly beneficial medical effect of BK Raja Yoga meditation. It is present here under 'Fair Use' as we believe it is in the public interest for the purpose of historical analysis of the development of the BKWSU and related discussions, including the censorship of journalists reporting on this area.

BK Hansa Raval
EzineArticles.com wrote:Applications in Cancer Treatment by Calvin Chin

A cure for cancer exists through the use of Yoga, a San Antonio, Texas, cancer specialist said during a seminar in Oklahoma City in the 1980s.

But physicians refused to acknowledge the cure, said Col. Hansa Raval, M.D., a pathologist with the United States Army. Dr. Raval said her work in cytotechnology _ a diagnostic branch of medicine designed to pinpoint early stages of cancer _ was fruitless until she began researching the use of non-conventional methods of treatment.

The specialist said she witnessed the use of Raja Yoga and meditation cure crippling arthritis, headaches and even cancer.

And even though Raval offers proof, which she said was collected during two years of study at the Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University in India, she has been dismissed by other members of the medical profession as a kook.

Yoga's success as a treatment method is due to another hypothesis Raval proposes that 98 percent of all cancer is psychosomatic.

This is not chanting or mantra reciting, the physician said. It's not based on scriptures. It's not a cult. It's not biofeedback. It's deeper than that. This is a full-proof method of meditation, a detailed understanding of what the soul is.

Raval maintains that medical schools belittle the study of non-conventional methods of cancer treatment in favor of conventional methods such as radiation, chemotherapy, and treatment through machines.'

Medical schools teach students that the human being is only a body. But the mind has the power to cure the body. By definition, psychosomatic means a combination of mind, or soul and body.

The soul creates the disease, but the body suffers. If the psyche creates the disease, the only way to cure it is through the psyche. It's a very simple formula: treating the seed of the problem.

Further, studies in parapsychology all point to the treatment of illness through treatment of the soul.

The World Spiritual University, which has branches in 30 countries, teaches peace and perfection for health and happiness through the use of Raja Yoga. The university gained status as a non-governmental member of the United Nations and has offices at the U.N. building in New York.

Raja Yoga teaches students to search their Soul World for answers on where they came from and why the cancer entered their body. They learn what role religion, stress, family and lifestyle played in the cancer.

Well of course! With the pure magic of Gyan anything is possible. But is must be through the approved official version BK Raja Yoga (tm) ONLY ;)

Hmmm, not based on scriptures ... not a cult ... the 'psyche' is diseased ... hey, that's a good one. Yet more uneducated folk-belief ... like the good ole "schizophrenics have two souls" idea .

So the spin goes on. And they obviously haven't let go of that oh-so-handy little UN lie either ... Looks very good on PR :)

I do not know whether Raj Yoga as practiced by BKs/PBKs can completely cure cancer or not, but I know about at least two BKs and one PBK who suffered from cancer and finally left their bodies. They lived for more than the period doctors had predicted for them and suffered less than other cancer patients for most part of their illness, although they suffered badly like all other patients in their last days.

I think this was true even about Om Radhe Mama. If anyone has time they can quote from the book on Vishwa Ratan Dada about Mama's illness.

Yes, we don't read much about the death of Om Radhe and so I presume it has been covered up by the BKWSU.

And Lekhraj Kirpalani's illness and death is being slowly covered up and mythologized as well. In Vishwa Ratan's book it mentions Lekhraj Kirpalani was receiving injections, did he have diabetes or something in his later years? It is also said he died in pain and without medical care. One would have thought that a perfectly Karmateet 'master' would have left their body in a much more controlled manner setting an example for others in the next Kalpa.

Has any BK left the body in such a manner?

A cure for cancer exists through the use of Yoga, a San Antonio, Texas, cancer specialist said during a seminar in Oklahoma City in the 1980s.

Perhaps we should clarify what kind of Yoga has done this. The sentence above does not refer to Raja Yoga and/or Hatha Yoga but it could be that the journalist or writer of the article lumped the yogas together as 'one type' after interviewing said cancer specialist. from the quoted article I am not sure if said specialist is Dr Hansa or not. Maybe I am reading it wrong though? The article does later say that is is Raja Yoga that cures..

Hatha Yoga has many documented cases of curing it's follower of many types of disease. Iyengar Yoga does sometimes teach that it's Yoga will cure many diseases including cancer if followed properly and with dedication ...

If it has ever been written about in a medical journal or medical document I do not know but I am aware that there has been great healing in many people because of their own specific Yoga practices.

I also don't think we should fall into the trap of thinking that if scientific medicine hasn't 'proved' an alternative therapy then it cannot possible be right or even work. Its all in the mind? or not? I s'pose that if we were to ask the 'cured' person they would give us the answer, despite what was written in a medical context. I understand that if there is a belief system then one's mind and body would respond accordingly. Perceptions differ according to one's belief system.

During my BK years I often heard that Hatha Yoga was only there to prepare the mind for meditation (Hello ...?) and I may be able to accept aspects of that statement - as someone who practices Hatha Yoga I can also say that the pose graded most difficult to carry out is the Shivasnar pose, where one lies down at the end of the class and tries to 'let go' completely, this is seen as virtually impossible to do ...

I cannot see why Yoga/Raja Yoga would not or could not influence one's own healing - however, I would say that the BK Raja Yoga lifestyle, rich in heavy sugar and deep fried foods, would not aid or benefit at all but would rather add to health problems. What's the point of having a stable mind is your body is has been quite literally stuffed wiht toxicity?

We also could identify that there exists BK Raja Yoga and there is also other Raja Yoga followings ... two very apparent different things.

I seem to remember her visiting us here in South Africa years ago. She's the one (from the US Army I mean ...). In those days, the Gyani souls here were completely thrilled to receive any visit from anyone as we were so far from any other happening place. (Still are I reckon!)

BKWSU predicts tax free India in 50 years

Post15 May 2007

Honestly, I am finding it hard to keep up with these people ... this is one for the news pages. here is one of Hansa's gigs in Atlanta. It is also one to warn about the dangers of internet adverstising! From NRIPulse.com - the home of the Indian American Family.
BK Mruthyunjaya, executive secretary of the BrahmaKumaris world headquarters in Mount Abu, elucidated the gathering about Brahmakumaris' educational resource center for values, and the importance accorded to living an empowered life through meditation, Raja Yoga and the realization of the divine.

"The Brahmakumaris have got education for a new pollution free, disease free, crime free and tax free society," he said. "There are 800,000 Brahmakumaris to spread our vision. In 50 years, we can achieve a crime and pollution free India!"

God is having a little joke, methinks ...

NRIPulse.com wrote:Atlanta Brahmakumaris Discuss Spiritual Empowerment BY VEENA RAO

The Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual Organization, Atlanta chapter, met at the Holiday Inn, Doraville recently for a spiritual discussion on "The Call of the Time: Stress Free Living & Spiritual Empowerment". BK Mruthyunjaya, the executive secretary of the BrahmaKumaris world headquarters in Mount Abu, India was the guest speaker.

Speaking about the importance of spiritual empowerment to overcome stress, Mruthyunjaya said, stress is omnipresent in the present times. "Stress indicates lack of awareness, truth, inner power and wisdom, which lead to mental, physical and economic diseases."

Today, all human activities are commercialized. There is a criminalization of human consciousness. The solution is to humanize and spiritualize human behavior, he said. He said the human mind is troubled by negative thoughts, which lead to a suspicious nature, hatred and zero tolerance. This may lead to crime and violence, as seen in the present world. The president of India has admitted that 95% of the people are corrupt, he said. "This proves that there is something wrong with our system. We need spiritual education for the educated."

The solution, he said, is to have a vision and mission of one's own life. "Meditation, and spiritual empowerment are important. It is important (to tell yourself) that my purpose in coming into this world is to establish peace." Mruthyunjaya elucidated the gathering about Brahmakumaris’ educational resource center for values, and the importance accorded to living an empowered life through meditation, Raja Yoga and the realization of the divine.

"The Brahmakumaris have got education for a new pollution free, disease free, crime free and tax free society,” he said. "There are 800,000 Brahmakumaris to spread our vision. In 50 years, we can achieve a crime and pollution free India!"

The Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University (BKWSU) is an international non-governmental organization headquartered at Mt. Abu, Rajasthan, India with over 7000 centers in 103 countries, territories and islands. As a learning community, it currently has more than 800,000 regular students seeking to strengthen their ability to live by their own higher nature and to improve their contribution to society through spiritual education and reflective practices.

The Atlanta center of BKWSU, led by BK Hansa Patel offers courses in stress and anger management . The center is located at 325 Rack Road (Atlanta), Lawrenceville Golden Age 30044. (T 1-770-682 2594 F 1-770-682 2594 E atlanta@BKWSU.com)

I suggest there is something more than gifts we can send back to India!

Prevention is better than cure. Eat "their" food and take what you get. I am talking about the corporate vampires who fill supermarket shelves with carcegenic rubbish. There is money in cancer.

After raking it in at the bad food store (your diet begins in the shop) they then have the sub medical industry. The opium from Iraq and Afghanistan (why else are they there?), I have said it before, we need to get shot of these creepy twisted creatures sooner than later. THEY are the cancer.

I have just dissolved an abscess using virgin coconut oil. I stopped the anti biotics after one day. I can feel the activity after eating a spoonful. It is a complete food. Is any one listening? Of course not. The experience is similar to that of cocaine when we have not eaten much food that day. It goes straight to the liver and into the blood stream. It has the omega stuff and feeds the brain which veg oils don't because the body cant absorb it.

We SHOULD be careful of what the Doctors tell us never mind their faith! Read this---> (All Statistics courtesy of US Department of Health Human Services.)

DOCTORS: The number of physicians in the US is 700,000. Accidental deaths caused by physicians per year are 120,000. Accidental deaths per physician is 0.171.

GUNS: The number of gun owners in the US is 80,000,000. Yes, that is 80 million.
The number of accidental gun deaths per year, all age groups, is 1,500.
The number of accidental gun deaths per gun owner is 0.0000188.

Statistically, therefore, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than
gun owners.

CONCLUSION: Statistically, therefore, it follows that guns don't kill people, doctors do.

Fact:Not everyone has a gun, but almost everybody has at least one doctor. Please alert your friends to this alarming threat. We must control doctors before this gets completely out of hand!

Out of concern for the public at large, statistics on lawyers have been withheld for fear the shock would cause people to panic and seek medical attention ...

I am doing so reading (and writing) on this subject at the moment. It is worth looking up the original studies because the figures are so damning.

article on Yoga curing cancer

Post11 Jun 2007

I know Dr. Raval on a professional level. 15 years ago my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer. Dr. Raval was in close contact with us throughout chemotherapy. She taught my wife meditation as a complimentary treatment, but not as a substitute to the allopathic treatment. We were never told that Yoga or meditation was a cure for cancer. I must say that she really helped us out during a time of crisis. My wife's cancer is still in remission.

I am trying to get in touch with Dr. Raval and the US Army Public Relations Department to verify the authenticity of the article. I am not sure where she is practicing medicine now.

Just a note: I looked up Hansa in Atlanta. It turned out to be Hansa Patel, not Dr. Hansa Raval. There seems to be another Hansa at the BKs in California, but it's not the Dr. The last time I saw Dr. Raval was at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas.

I have very little experience with the "BKs" so I do not have anything to add on them.

As soon as I have some concrete information on the cancer article, I will get back to you all. Thanks to Proy for posting the article.

article on Yoga curing cancer

Hi Proy,
The article seems to have dissappeared from ezinearticle.com as well. My wife found contact information on Colonel Raval and I hope to get details on this article very soon. I lived in Texas most of my professional career before retirement, so I have many reliable contacts there.

Yes, the BKWSU has a habit of "disappearing" articles ... so who knows.

However, if you type in 'hansa raval cancer cure' into Google many copies will come up.

Has Hansa ever made peace with her first husband and gone back to find out what happened to the kid she left behind? And what was that second marriage to another BK all about!?!

The BKWSU used to be all over her because she actually had a respectable professional qualification, even though they discouraged junior BKs from pursuing the same. Its seems to me that if you are in with the incrowd of the BKs, and "serviceable", you can get away with anything ... but making such unproven or unscientific claims ought to be reprimanded if there is no data to support them.
