How to spellcheck and escape the automatic word censor

Post10 Jul 2007

Escaping the Word Censor

Some folks don't like the word censor feature that corrects the spelling of generally used BK words to establish some standard. It is good but might screw up sometimes. Here is a work around.

To escape the word censor put any two 'BBcode tags' in the middle of the censored word you wish to keep, e.g. Father is one example, some do not want the capital F used for God when they mean their lokik, lowercase, Father ...

For example, "Father" is a censored/spellchecked word, so write;
Code: Select all
fa[b][u][/u][/b]ther.

It will not be detected, and will appear as if normally typed.

    Father will look like Father (I typed all in lowercase).

    Father will look like Father (I typed lowercase but with bbcode included).
You can use the buttons on the post window to do this quickly.

There is no built in spellchecker unless your browser has one, e.g. try Firefox.

Write your posts in Word, or some others wordprocessor, and then copy and paste them into the forum.

We should be merciful on our readers!

What specification is your computer? There may be a free, Open Source one that will work such as 'Open Office' from

http://www.openoffice.org/product/writer.html

or Abi Word, for example.

If they do not suit you, you can use an online creator such as 'Google Docs', care of Google.com or 'Ajaxwrite' at http://www.ajaxwrite.com/.

I am sure that there must be many lightweight ones for Window though. You don't need a full office suite, e.g. 'Jarte';

Dear jaycdp,

Omshanti. Type the required text on a Microsoft Word file. Make corrections using the available tools. Select the entire or partial portion of the text. Copy it and paste it in the message portion of this site after pressing the reply button. Submit the same. I think members can also change their post within an hour of making the post.
OGS,
Arjun
