Goa police roped in services of Brahma Kumaris

Post04 Oct 2011

Goa police to follow Gandhian policy by by John Edwards

Panaji, Oct 2 (IBNS) Goa Police chief Dr Aditya Arya, who has initiated image makeover of the force, Sunday unveiled a portrait of Mahatma Gandhi in his office at police headquarters.

“All the police stations will be asked to adhere to values of Father of the Nation. I want my force to be empathetic with the people who approach police with their grievances,” Arya told reporters on the day of Gandhiji's birth anniversary. The portrait by renowned artist Subodh Kerkar is a gift to the Director General of Police for his excellent service and initiative for improving the force which has taken beating in the recent past to allegations of sexual abuse, drugs nexus and dereliction of duty.

Speaking in the presence of other senior police officers, DGP Arya stressed to have community interaction. “We want that people stop fearing the policemen because every citizen is a policeman without uniform,” he added. While he plans to enact people-friendly force in Goa on par with Kerala Police Act, the police chief now intends to turn on spirituality by holding two days meditation camp for the force on October 13 and 14.

"We have roped in services of Ishwariya Brahmakumaris to give mental peace to our policemen. This will enhance work discipline ..." he said.

Dr Arya recently held screening of movie ‘Singham’ to motivate and change the tainted image of the police force.
