Miriam Subirana, the BKWSU & the Spirit of Humanity Forum

Post16 Jul 2013

We have a few threads documenting the former head of BK Spain Miriam Subirana's "evolution". It's always a bit amusing to see her involved in events promoting peace and higher values given her fierce reputation within the BKWSU ... perhaps the mask is slipping a little further as it appears she is putting her BK connections to good use in a natty bit of social climbing which is bound to pay back professionally for her.

Miriam has recently reincarnated as a representative for the "Foundation for a Culture of Peace" (FCP), at the 1st Spirit of Humanity Forum, 13th-15th September 2012 in Reykjavik, Iceland. An event of which the Brahma Kumaris were "partners" ... as in milking it for the connections it provides them presumably.

Interestingly, the chairman of the Foundation for a Culture of Peace is Federico Mayor Zaragoza, a long term Brahma Kumari "mic" or contact soul since his 12 years as Director-General of UNESCO (1987 to 1999).

Another nice business class flight to an exotic location for a chit chat for the Kirplani Klan and other VIP BKs then? I wonder who paid for their hotels and airfare tickets? The BKs have a centre they call the Lotus House (Lótushús) on the island at which old timer BK Denise Lawrence recently also clocked up her air miles visiting too.

The BKs cover every base at the 'Spirit of Humanity Forum'. Jayanti gets on the "Honorary Board", Maureen Goodman gets on the "Executive Board", Neville Hodgkinson and Miriam Subirana are on the "Advisory Board" ... and ex-l is on the "I am so bored".

Glamorous demi-BK Clarke Peters makes an appearance, as does long term BK contact (25+ years) academic Ursula King. I wonder how many other "stealth BKs" are involved working contacts wearing their civvies? That looks like team player Anthony Strano in the background below.

It's an interesting evolution which reminds of a typical move via the "revolving door" systems that links many big business and governments or NGOs and ... from the BK point of view ... appears to offer Miriam all of the kudos and social connections with none of onerous Brahma Kumari disciplines. It is a good example for any exiting BK of how to capitalize on their investment into the Brahma Kumaris and come out with something at the end of it ... if one is able to stomach socializing with these people and not raising questions about their motives and agenda.

It always sounds like a big deal when a "nation" is involved ... but it's worth remembering that Iceland, as wonderful an island as it is, has a population the size of a small city and spend far more time interested in killing whales, heavy drinking and has a national dish which is prepared by urinating on a dead shark and burying in the ground for 6 to 8 weeks ... got to love those crazy viking souls! And if that does whet your appetite then there's always the sour, whey-pickled Ram's testicles ... yup, Iceland is probably not on the list of most natural vegetarian cultures and given it's position on a volcanic fault line, do the Brahma Kumaris *really* believe it is a great place to have a picnic site in the Golden Age?
The Foundation for a Culture of Peace (Fundación Cultura de Paz) was established in Madrid in March 2000. Its aim is to promote a culture of peace, human rights, non-violence, tolerance and dialogue among civilizations. Its Chairman is Federico Mayor Zaragoza, and a group of eminent figures, including Nobel Peace Prizes, participate in its activities: Oscar Arias, Mikhail S. Gorbachev, Rigoberta Menchú, Adolfo Pérez Esquivel, Shimon Peres and Desmond Tutu.

It appears the Brahma Kumaris came up with the idea but that it was funded by the Mayor and City Council of Reykjavik, Iceland. BK contact soul Lynne Franks was also invited. It seems almost that the BKs are using others to fund and run their own service programmes, and then hide behind a veil of apparent separateness from them ... "those who do and do through others".
BK contact soul Lynne Franks wrote:So when I was invited to attend the Spirit of Humanity Conference in the Iceland capitol of Reykjavik, I was delighted to accept. I was looking forward to hearing the ‘saga’ of these Viking men and women as well as spending time with a group of inspirational change makers from around the world
... invited by my good friends, the women’s-led spiritual organisation, the Brahma Kumaris.

Deftly stepping into his usual PR role, Neville describes the Brahma Kumaris as
BK Neville Hodgkinson wrote:European representatives of the Brahma Kumaris, a spiritual training organisation with a global network of centres teaching reflective practices, took up the idea and it became clear that a Forum aimed at energizing our higher human values could be of benefit in many other areas of life including education, health, governance, business and finance.

Here is Professor Ursula King being guided in conservation with Jayanti Kripalani in 2009 ... whilst being guided to say the 'kind of right things' it is clear that Ursula has no idea what the Brahma Kumaris are really all about.

Note how, around 20 minutes, Ursula starts to ask whether there is no hope if humanity is so self-destructive ... what she thinks is an unanswerable question and listen to Jayanti's waffle about Lekhraj Kirpalani's early visions.
Ursula King, STL (Paris), MA (Delhi) PhD (London), FRSA, is Professor Emerita of Theology and Religious Studies and Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for Advanced Studies, University of Bristol.

The second forum will be on "The Power of Love and Compassion in Governance – Sharing Actions for Effective Change" and is proposed to take place in Reykjavik on April 9-12, 2014.

If anyone is interested in participating at Reykjavik 2014, or has suggestions and ideas to share ... or if their conscience motivates them to provide other participants with a little background information about the Brahma Kumaris ... please contact the organizers at info@sohforum.org, or following some of the links above to other organizations and individuals.

The organizers appear on paper to be "Fondation Education 4 Peace.

I cannot imagine that here are no BK Celebrities, BK contact souls, mic or anyone else who has not encountered this website.

By now they must be making excuses to ever be involved with BK and if they are still involved they must be ashamed! They probably needed attention for whatever they did or wrote but had more interest in media attention for themselves in order to sell a book and were never interested in what the BK is about.
