The Great yogi of India, Yogacharya B.K.S. Iyengar died recently. He is said to be responsible for bringing Yoga to West & all countries other than India. Fees was charged openly for what he offered, without involving any double standards talks. Soon, Yoga turned into a multi billion dollar industry, owing it to Iyengar. His Yoga was pure the ancient Yoga known to us as Patanjali Yoga. He added extra things like props, supporting techniques, etc to get mastery of each & every limb of Yoga. Now, he is gone & the path is open through his son & daughter. He is said to become self realized, someone who experienced "soul", the living element, and as he says that it took too much effort to get that & now his students get it with so ease.
He once said that " It is very sad state that today anyone learns two or three techniques of Yoga & opens his shop without understanding it overall effect on his customers."
Some of his best quotes known to every proper yogi are:

1. "Health is a state of complete harmony of the body, mind and spirit. When one is free from physical disabilities and mental distractions, the gates of the soul open."

2. "Penetration of our mind is our goal, but in the beginning to set things in motion, there is no substitute for sweat."

3. "The highest point of yesterday should be the lowest point of today."

4. "Yoga teaches us to cure what need not be endured and endure what cannot be cured."

5. "Yoga, an ancient but perfect science, deals with the evolution of humanity. This evolution includes all aspects of one's being, from bodily health to self-realization. Yoga means union -- the union of body with consciousness and consciousness with the soul. Yoga cultivates the ways of maintaining a balanced attitude in day-to-day life and endows skill in the performance of one's actions."

6. "When you inhale, you are taking the strength from God. When you exhale, it represents the service you are giving to the world."

7. "Illuminated emancipation, freedom, unalloyed and untainted bliss await you, but you have to choose to embark on the Inward Journey to discover it."

8. “Action is movement with intelligence. The world is filled with movement. What the world needs is more conscious movement, more action.”
9. “It is through the alignment of the body that I discovered the alignment of my mind, self, and intelligence.”

10. “The hardness of a diamond is part of its usefulness, but its true value is in the light that shines through it.”

11. “One's spiritual realization lies in none other than how one walks among and interacts with one's fellow beings.”

12. “Yoga does not just change the way we see things, it transforms the person who sees.”

13. “Yoga allows you to rediscover a sense of wholeness in your life, where you do not feel like you are constantly trying to fit broken pieces together.”

14. “Nothing can be forced, receptivity is everything.”

15. “Breath is the king of mind.”

16. “We must create a marriage between the awareness of the body and that of the mind. When two parties do not cooperate, there is unhappiness on both sides.”

17. “As breath stills our mind, our energies are free to unhook from the senses and bend inward.”

18. “Breath is the vehicle of consciousness and so, by its slow measured observation and distribution, we learn to tug our attention away from external desires toward a judicious, intelligent awareness.”

19. “As animals, we walk the earth. As bearers of divine essence, we are among the stars. As human beings, we are caught in the middle, seeking to reconcile the paradox of how to make our way upon earth while striving for something more permanent and more profound.”

20. “The union of nature and soul removes the veil of ignorance that covers our intelligence.”

21. “You do not need to seek freedom in a different land, for it exists with your own body, heart, mind, and soul.”

22. "When we free ourselves from physical disabilities, emotional disturbances, and mental distractions, we open the gates to our soul.”

23. “The physical body is not only a temple for our soul, but the means by which we embark on the inward journey toward the core.”

24. “True concentration is an unbroken thread of awareness.”

25. “Yoga is like music: the rhythm of the body, the melody of the mind, and the harmony of the soul create the symphony of life.”

B.K.S. Iyengar had written many Best Selling "Yoga Book", one of which is " Light on Yoga" . Personally, i found it as the most interesting Yoga book i have read ever. The reason is that it is original, new & something which depicts nothing but as a product of experience.
Someone tell how to upload a pic & book here? I feel BKs must read this book to understand what is actual RajYoga & what have they made it look like.
