Early Day Motions (EDMs) in the British Parliament are formal motions submitted for debate in the House of Commons. The truth is, very few are actually debated or accepted, however, EDMs allow MPs to draw attention to an event or cause. MPs register their support by signing individual motions.
Can anyone explain to me how and why the Scottish National Party have rallied to support Dadi Janki Kirpalani? Any other example of BK self-promotion masquerading as "service"? Anyone want to chip in and buy 24 stamps so we can enlighten them about the BKs real agenda?
The motion was supported by Jim Shannon, a Democratic Unionist MP who for two years in a row has claimed the most expenses in the House of Commons is currently being investigated by a parliamentary watchdog.
I imagine Janki would approve ... but encourage him to have his travelled paid too.
In a recent British bookshop's mind, body and spirit magazine, Janki was also listed as the 55th most spiritual person, between Guru Maharaj Ji Prem Rawat and one Brian Weiss. I'd never heard of him (he's a past life regression specialist) but having watched Fando y Lis and other movies ... I'd have to question any list that places Alejandro Jodorowsky as the number 9 most spiritual person in the world, never mind Pope Francis as number 2 (who he?).
Message to BKs ... I really would take this kind of stuff too seriously. Janki's obviously not going to make the top 8.

Jim Shannon, the MP for Strangford in Northern Ireland, was paid a total of £205,798 in taxpayer-funded expenses last year, excluding travel.
