In Surya's case, his relationship with the BK community must have been for more than 40 years. Others on that list are into their 20 and 30 years as a BK. That's a long time. One is doubly bound as their parents are also BK-ish (albeit, that could be a mixed blessing), the BKs being uniquely credited with holding their family together.

Recently, we've been discussing Denise and watching her videos doing what is very much still "entry level" BK evangelism, albeit with a meal ticket in Madhuban. I wonder what position and status Surya, Herman and others have found for themselves?

They also mention centres are empty and closing, people are not coming for class but just staying at home. I have no idea what the current statistics are, they are not the sort of the things the BKs openly publish. It may be that the BK is leaving them, rather than they leaving the BKs ... as in, who and what is left if everyone else just stops turning up and new blood is not joining.

What then?

I suppose with centres closing, and the original Western BKs both acquiring their family's property and wealth through deaths and not having dependents of their own, will mean even more transfers of properties and wealth to the Kirpalani Klan, allowing them to centralise their real estate holdings in larger metropolitans, or perhaps upmarket resort-retreats, and mainting their social climbing and socialising VIP.

Therefore, for me, I'd put my money not so much on their leaving but working out their own very practical survival strategies for their retirement, expecting or demanding recompensation from the Kirpalani Klan.

I think something else might have developed and that is Westerners "serving" the BKWSU, by which I mean sticking with it and sticking it out not to do what the BKs would have them - to spread the word about Destruction and coming of "Trimurti God Shiva" etc - but to try and enlighten the greater BK community with their vegan, organic, new agey, more enlightened political inputs.

Whether that is a worth or even worthwhile activity or not is open to discussion. Afterall, it is what we are partly doing here.

Here in Oz, what I hear is that the centres are now catering to mainly Indian immigrants/visa holders. They are the largest growing migrant group albeit from a very low base, unlike GB.
At the end of June 2014, 397,180 Indian-born people were living in Australia, more than double the number at 30 June 2006. This makes the Indian-born population the fourth largest migrant community in Australia, equivalent to 6.0 per cent of Australia's overseas-born population and 1.7 per cent of Australia's total population. - https://www.homeaffairs.gov.au

And there were 64,364 Indians on student visas, they’d be mainly in Melbourne and Sydney.

Here’s the thing. When BKs first went outside India, India was an economic basket case and they viewed the West, GB, USA and Germany in particular as the most attractive of countries as they were the most influential. Nowadays, India is the boom economy with a huge and expanding middle class, and a huge and expanding ex-patriot community.

Many of those who have emigrated successfully in recent years are mostly highly skilled and well paid, based on Australia’s ”points” system for applicants. They or part of the family, usually the wife/mother, seek some cultural connection to ”home” or to their religion.

Western BKism is a tasty confection, for them a suitable blend of India and the West, a lot of the traditional terminology and imagery without the superstition, and, as we have discussed often, full of a lot of pseudo-science and pseudo-intellectual rationalisations, the centres are more Western, neat interior designs with enough of a touch of Indian kitsch.

And, as they have a strong culture of monetary donation, they are the ideal demographic to support the organisation.

I know that a lot of them take advantage of the BKs offering ”free childcare” in the form of ”children’s programs”, where the mums bring the kids while they either go do something else or socialise together there while the kids are distracted in another room.

Ex-I,

we may not need the love children of the academic giants, though the youths from enlightened parents are quite spiritual and great intellectuals themselves. Some of the enlightened youths I have been honored to guide as young scientists and I have sometimes shared bench space on ventures of scientific discoveries. However, I never proselytize those who elect to have me as their mentor in science or medicine.

It seems that the youths of today are more inclined to spirituality than decades ago. There is parental and inherent influences, though the BKs will claim the youths are ex-BKs. I doubt whether the enlightened youths will become BKs. Our Brothers and Sisters of the West with their many decades of BK experiences are trying to play catch up with their physical and spiritual legacies. Energies, which should have been used in building an authentic legacy were expended in BKism. The fruits of the Western Dada status in BKism never appealed to me spiritually and intellectually.

Pink,

the BKs have always exploited the Indian immigrants in Western cultures; this time they are assisted by the aging Western BK culture.
