A spirit medium Psychic mediumship has been the at the core of BKWSU activity since 1936 when the spirit Brahma Kumaris believe to be “God” entered, or possessed, their founder Lekhraj Kirpalani predicting the End of the World. Since the death of “Dada Lekhraj” in 1969, BKs believe that the perfectly enlightened soul of the deceased Kirpalani, and the god soul they name after the Hindu deity “Shiva”, continue to enter the current spiritualistic medium Hirday Mohini, speaking and acting through her body to give advice and guidance to the BKWSU. The Brahma Kumaris claims to used trance-messengers, or Sandeshputris, to travel to other realms to reap insights and directions on individuals, organizations such as the UN, and service plans.

To the BKs, the spirit being channelled is not just another “channelled entity”. It is God. The One God Father. And it is to this being that they surrender their mind, body and wealth. Generally only BKs, after a period of 6 months or 1 year “purification” and obedience to BK rules, are allowed to meet with “God” Shiva but in one notable exception Dr Robert Muller, Former Assistant Secretary General to the United Nations, was introduced in person. To the PBKs, it is only the soul of Lekhraj Kirpalani that is presence.

Further, we note that the death of senior administrators involves eleborate rituals including the mediumship of the deceased returning form beyond the funeral pyre to give messages and meet with former colleagues as reported, here, and that at various occasions in the organization’s history groups of children we also taken into trance and channelled deities.
