Meeting in London

Post25 Jun 2013

There are so many interesting experiences and views on this site. It would be great to meet fellow ex-BKs so we can get to know each other and maybe have monthly meet-ups over a drink somewhere in London.

Site administrators - why don't you organise something and we will see what happens????

You're the boss ... speak to people and see if they are interested. Promote it a bit else. Do you know any other ex-BKs? Unfortunately, I think people are too scattered all over the world.

What's your position on all this BK stuff? What was your experience with them? What would it be for?

Personally, I've avoided doing such a thing because I know what the BKs are like ... as soon as a group met, they would be getting all excited it was "The Anti-Party" ... and a sign the end of the world was near.

As it is, I think they still call us that. Idiots ... but I suppose it is a good way for the inner circle to control the followers.

Maybe those who want to and are in London can send Minesh a Private message?

Hi All,

Just registered. I am an ex-BK and would welcome meeting others. I live in Oxford so London is easily accessible.

Happy to give more information if anyone wants.

I am not anti-BK but then again I no longer follow the BK path either.

Some parts of my previous BK life were positive - it taught me values, morals and focussed me in education. On the other hand I also felt trapped especially as a growing adult. I was not able to develop healthy relationships with women or just socialise normally with people my age. Though I was intelligent, I lacked the confidence to openly speak my mind in fear that it does not conform to BK 'truths' or knowledge.

My motivation is suggesting a meet-up is just to meet more like minded people who are open to meet, talk and enjoy over a drink. I do not intend to create any sort of 'anti' group as such and wouldn't even mind if BKs wanted to come along as long as they don't try to convert that is!

I don't know ... it might be fun to wind up the BKs a little bit and hold a demonstration against one of their shops. It will get them all excited ... "it must be the End of the World if an Anti-Party has come back!" :D

Most of their shops are in nice places, Cambridge, Oxford, Brighton ... we can give Ilford a miss. Why don't you organise protest day trips and have a drink and a meal in the evening? Of course, if you keep good relationships with the BKs and go back there sometime, I can understand why you would not be interested.

There is no shame in that, BTW, as long as you are open and upfront about it.

Every time an idiot BK starts laying their crap on me, I just transform it into something positive .. like writing a few concerned letters or emails to IPs and VIPs for example. I find it to be good therapy and have discovered that many of them, although they are polite to the BKs, share similar sentiments.

I appreciate why you would be interested in just being able to hang out and speak to other people who have been through the same experiences as you, and empathize with them. I hope that you can find someone.
