Is it against 'The Principles for BKs to sell The Knowledge?

Post06 Nov 2008

Reading all the recent topics about BKs turn successful authors, corporate trainers, business networks running throughout the BK movement and even values in healthcare specialists being allowed to sell BK knowledge and service schemes to the general public ... is it against the Brahma Kumaris principles for BKs to make money selling The Knowledge or using the movement for their own business?

Can anyone tell us how this Maryadas was changed ... whether its change was discussed ... and how such privileges are decided and given?

As far as I know it still holds and one can only do this mixing of business and Gyan if authorized by the Seniors.

I should have made that question clearer ... what I meant was, is it in 'THEORY' against the BK Maryadas ... not ... was it in 'PRACTISE' against the BK principles.

It is clear that they do and it is not "below" them but that was not the 'theory' I was sold.

I signed up on the basis of, believed and acted that it WAS always against the principles to talk business etc within BK circles. These ongoing revelations, and the favoritism behind them, are the one thing that has opened my eyes the most to what is going on inside. It leaves me wonder about the ethical gymnastics to get over it from the Brahmin point of view.

If there has been any new Shrimat which has changed this, either institutional or individuals, please enlighten me.

It is definitely against the original Maryadas and there is nothing to support this trend in the Murlis although Avyakt BapDada does not seem to have ever said anything to stop it, which leaves one to wonder about God's sense of ethics.

Of course the BK's sell The Knowledge! I was told to tell the students who requested copies of the Murli that they can receive it from the regional office for $150 a year. Yet, one needs to be on their good side or else they can also deny one from even buying it.

... and does that also apply to delivery by email (i.e. where costs are zero?). Thank you for that little snippet ... Of course, I know they do not approve of followers emailing Murlis on to others.

Well, I guess its all mind game!

The one who has a business mind will look at it in a business perspective
The one who has a social attitude will look at it as a social service
The one who wants to gain knowledge will look at it as "Dakshina"
But the one who wants to condem it will look at it just to condem
Such discussions would hardly matter to the devoted Sisters and Brothers
as they are committed to give their best
Only thing is in todays world its unfortunate to have anything free
There are lots of things we get free from the BKs
But those talking all this shall give a look at the Admin also
Unfortunately its difficult to get anything free in this world
and one should understand it first!

Welcome to the Forum sanyo_r!

The question is: "Is it against the Principles for BKs to sell The Knowledge?" It is not about it being a common thing to get anything for free, or even about it being a good or a bad thing.

One could also say that it is difficult to remain celibate in this world and get up at 4 am and go to class every day and tolerate the abuse from the bossy Sisters, yet everyone will agree that such are the BK principles.

Usually when a typical BK-type says "understand", they mean "accept, submit and not question".

Its seems hard for most committment BKs to see how someone can perfectly well "understand" BKWSU but either dismiss it, be concerned about the omissions or abuses ... or take active steps to change matters for the better.
