Rakhi, or Raksha Bandhan, is a Hindu festival where a thread is tied around the wrist by a sister to her brother. It celebrates the relationship between brothers and sisters and is practised on the full moon in the month of Shraavana generally late August. The brother in return offers a gift to his sister and vows to look after her, the pair traditionally feed each other sweets.

Whereas the BKWSU does not practise Hinduism and HIndu rituals, Rakhi is celebrated as a festival on a symbolic level where usually senior sisters ties the rakhi threads around the writs of all the BK followers male and female. This is said to celebrate their god Shiva coming to ties the rakhi and promising to be the BKs' protector.
rakhi is a very pure festival celebrated world wide which celebrates the feeling of brotherhood.the rakhi is usually tied by a sister to her brother, this says that the sister who ties the rakhi('the sacred rope')is making a bondage between her and the brother one to whome she ties.by this the brother is been brought into agreement to save her life..
