The Brahma Kumaris was founded by diamond merchant Lekraj Kripalani, known as Dada Lehkraj, who, following a series of spiritual visons, adopted the name of " Brahma Baba " and founded the Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University (formely known as Om Mandali). The BK's believe that the soul of Lekraj Kripalani is Brahma, and reincarnates in his next birth as Krishna or Adi Dev (first man, ie Adam).
Brahma Baba is seen by BKs as the number one human soul (after Shiva Baba, a.k.a. God, who is number zero, and who never takes a body), the most pure and elevated soul in humanity. As such he is chosen by Shiva Baba as his (/her) mouthpiece, to reveal knowledge to the world and thus reveal God (ie Shiva). Brahma Baba is thus considered by the Brahma Kumaris to be higher in divinity than Jesus Christ, Mohamed, Buddha and all other religious founders who must come to him, or his followers, for re-education in spirituality.
Brahma Baba, by his actions in a previous (or future - see cycle) incarnation 2,500 years ago (or hence) is also taught to be the individual that leads humanity to " The Fall ", that is out of divinity and heaven on earth and into dualistic suffering.
