"Baap toh aatey hee anth may hain. Unkee he sab mahima gaatey hain ki tumhree gati mat tum hee jaano. Tumhaarey may kya gyaan hai, kaisey tum sadgati kartey ho so toh tum hee jaano. Toh vah Shrimat deney aayega toh jaroor na. Parantu kaisey aatey hain, kis shareeer may aatey hain. Vah koi jaantey nahee. Khud kahtey hain saadhaaran tan may mujhey aana hai. Mujhey Brahma naam bhi jaroor rakhnaa padey. Nahee toh Brahman kaisey paida hon? Brahma kahaan say aaye? Oopar say toh nahee aayega! Vah hai sookshmavatanvaasi Avyakt, sampoorna Brahma. Yahaan toh jaroor vyakt say aakar rachnaa rachnee padey. Ham anubhav say bataa saktey hain. Itnaa samay aatey aur jaatey hain. Baap kahtey hain mai bhi drama may baandhaa hua hoon, aur mera part bhi sirf ek baar aaney ka hai." (Brahmakumariyon dwara prakaashit revised Sakar Murli, dinaank 15.01.08, pg 3)

“The Father comes only in the end. Everyone sings only His glory that – You alone know your ways and knowledge. You alone know The Knowledge contained in yourself and how you cause true salvation. So, He would certainly come to give Shrimat, will He not? But how He comes, in which body does He enter, nobody knows. He Himself says that I have to come in an ordinary body. I would also definitely have to name (the body in which I enter) as Brahma. Otherwise how will the Brahmins take birth? Where will Brahma come from? He will not come from above! He is subtleworlddweller Avyakt, complete Brahma. Here the creation would definitely have to be created by coming in a manifest form. We can tell on the basis of experience. He comes and departs for such duration. The Father says – I am also bound in drama and my part is also to come only once.” (Revised Sakar Murli dated 15.01.08, pg 3 published by BKs in Hindi, narrated by ShivBaba through Brahma Baba; translated by a PBK; the words within brackets in the English version have been added by the translator to clarify the meaning)

"Samjho vilaayat vala koi badaa aadmi nikaltaa hai, samajhtaa hai. Parantu kahaan bhatti may rahengey, kya samjhengey! Kahengey baat toh theek hai parantu pavitra nahee rah saktey, arey itney sab pavitra rahtey hain. Shaadi kar ikatthey rahkar bhi pavitra rahtey hain toh unhon ko inaam bhi bahut miltaa hai. Yah bhi race hai. Us race may first number jaaney say 4-5 laakh milengey. Yahaan toh 21 janmon ke liye poori raajai miltee hai. Kam baat hai! Yah Murli toh sab bachchon kay paas jaayegi. Tape may bhi sunengey. Kahengey ShivBaba Brahma tan say Murli sunaa rahey hain athvaa bachchiyaan sunaayengee toh kahengee ShivBaba kee Murli sunaatey hain toh buddhi ekdam vahaan jaani chaahiye. Vah sukh andar may bhaasnaa chaahiye. Most beloved Baba hamko sadaa sukhee manushya say devtaa banaatey hain, toh unkee Yaad bahut rahnee chaahiye." (Brahmakumariyon dwara prakaashit revised Sakar Murli, dinaank 15.01.08, pg 3)

“Suppose a big personality emerges from abroad and understands (The Knowledge). But will he live in bhatti, will he understand? He will say – “What you say is correct, but I cannot lead a pure life.” Arey, so many lead a pure life. They get married and lead a pure life even while living together; so they also get a big prize. This is also a race. One may get 4-5 lakhs by coming first in that (worldly) race. Here we get full kingship for 21 births. Is it any less? This Murli will go to all the children. They will also listen on tape. They will say that ShivBaba is narrating Murli through Brahma’s body or if the daughters narrate, they will say that they are narrating ShivBaba’s Murli. So, the intellect should go there at once. One should feel that joy within. Most beloved Baba makes us happy forever and transforms us from human beings to deities; so, one should remember Him a lot.” (Revised Sakar Murli dated 15.01.08, pg 3 published by BKs in Hindi, narrated by ShivBaba through Brahma Baba; translated by a PBK; the words within brackets in the English version have been added by the translator to clarify the meaning)

"Behad ka Baap hai hee swarg ka rachayita. Gaayaa bhi jaataa hai 21 peedhi raajya-bhaagya. Peedhi kyon kahtey hain? Kyonki vahaan boodhey hokar marengey. Vahaan akaaley mrityu nahee hoga. Maataaen kabhi vidhva nahee banengee. Rona peetnaa nahee hoga. Yahaan toh kitnaa rotey peet-tey hain. Vahaan bachchon ko bhi roney kee darkaar nahee. Yahaan toh bachchon ko rulaatey rahtey hain ki mukhh badaa ho. Vahaan aisee baat nahee." (Brahmakumariyon dwara prakaashit revised Sakar Murli, dinaank 19.01.08, pg 3)

“The unlimited Father is the creator of heaven. The fortune of kingship for 21 generations is also famous. Why do they say ‘generation’? It is because there (deities) will die after growing old. There will not be untimely death. Mothers will never become widows. People will not cry. Here people cry so much. There even children will not be required to cry. Here (newly born) children are made to cry so that the face grows big. There will not be any such thing there.” (Revised Sakar Murli dated 19.01.08, pg 3 published by BKs in Hindi, narrated by ShivBaba through Brahma Baba; translated by a PBK; the words within brackets in the English version have been added by the translator to clarify the meaning)

"Baap sabsey oonch hai, jisko Bhaaratwaasi maat-pitaa kahtey hain. Toh jaroor practical may maat-pitaa chaahiye. Gaatey hain toh jaroor koi samay huay hongey ... Government jo Trimurti banaati hai unmay hona chaahiye Brahma, Vishnu, Shankar, parantu jaanvar lagaa detey hain. Baap rachayita ka chitra hai nahee aur neechey chakra bhi lagaya hai. Vah samajhtey hain charkha hai parantu hai drama srishti ka chakra. Ab chakra ka naam rakha hai Ashok chakra. Ab tum is chakra ko jaan-ney say hee ashok ban jaatey ho. Baat toh theek hai, sirf ulat pulat kar diya hai. Tum is 84 janmon ke chakra ko Yaad karney say hee chakravarti raja bantey ho – 21 janmon ke liye." (Brahmakumariyon dwara prakaashit revised Sakar Murli, dinaank 23.01.08, pg 1&2)

“The Father is the highest one, whom the Indians call as the Mother and the Father. So, the Mother and the Father are definitely required in practical. When they praise, then they must have certainly existed at some point of time ... The Trimurti that the Government prepares should depict Brahma, Vishnu, Shankar, but they show animals. The picture of the Creator is not depicted and the wheel has also been shown below. They think it is a spinning wheel (charkha) but it is The Cycle of world drama. Well the wheel has been named Ashok Chakra. Now you become free from sorrows (ashok) just by knowing this cycle. The matter is correct, but the only thing is that they have showed it in an opposite way. You become universal monarch (chakravarti raja) for 21 births by remembering this cycle of 84 brths.” (Revised Sakar Murli dated 23.01.08, pg 1&2 published by BKs in Hindi, narrated by ShivBaba through Brahma Baba; translated by a PBK; the words within brackets in the English version have been added by the translator to clarify the meaning)

"Bachchon ko samjhaya hai hamesha aisey samjho ki hamko ShivBaba Murli sunaatey hain. Kabhi yah (Brahma) bhi sunaatey hain. ShivBaba kahtey hain mai guide ban-kar aaya hoon. Yah Brahma hai mera bachcha badaa. Kahtey hain Trimurti Brahma. Trimurti Shankar va Vishnu nahee kahengey. Mahadev Shankar ko kahtey hain. Fir Trimurti Brahma kyon kahtey hain? Isnay praja rachee hai toh yah unkee (ShivBaba kee) vanni (yugal) bantey hain. Shankar va Vishnu ko vanni nahee kahengey. Yah bahut wonderful baatein samajhney kee hain." (Brahmakumariyon dwara prakaashit revised Sakar Murli, dinaank 26.01.08, pg 3)

“Children have been explained that – always think as if ShivBaba is narrating Murli to us. Sometimes this one (Brahma) also narrates. ShivBaba says - I have come as a guide. This Brahma is my elder child. People say Trimurti Brahma. They do not say Trimurti Shankar or Vishnu. Shankar is called Mahadev (highest among all the deities). Then why do they say Trimurti Brahma? This one has created subjects, so this one becomes His (ShivBaba’s) wife (vanni). Shankar or Vishnu will not be called wife. These are very wonderful matters to be understood.” (Revised Sakar Murli dated 26.01.08, pg 3 published by BKs in Hindi, narrated by ShivBaba through Brahma Baba; translated by a PBK; the words within brackets in the English version have been added by the translator to clarify the meaning)

"Ab tum bachchon ko kaha jaataa hai ley lo, ley lo duaaen maa-baap kee….arthaat Shrmat par chalo. Apnee chaal-chalan achchi ho toh apney par aapey hee duaaen ho jaayengi. Agar chalan achchi nahee hogi, kisko dukh detey rahengey, maat-pitaa ko Yaad nahee karengey athavaa doosron ko Yaad nahee karaayengey toh duaaen mil nahee saktee. Fir itnaa sukhh bi nahee paa sakengey. Baap kee dil par chadh nahee sakengey. Is baap kee (Brahma kee) dil par chadhey toh goya ShivBaba kee dil par chadhey. Yah gaayan hai hee us maat-pitaa ka." (Brahmakumariyon dwara prakaashit revised Sakar Murli, dinaank 31.01.08, pg 2)

“Now you children are told to obtain the good wishes of the Mother and the Father…i.e. to follow the Shrimat. If one’s behaviour is good, then one would automatically earn good wishes for the self. If the behaviour is not good, if someone keeps causing sorrows to anyone, if one does not remember the Mother and the Father,or if one does not remind others (of the Mother and the Father), then one cannot get good wishes. Then one would not even be able to get so much happiness. One would not be able to find a place in the Father’s heart. If someone finds a place in the heart of this one (i.e. Brahma’s heart) then it means that one has found place in ShivBaba’s heart. These praises are only of that Mother and Father.” (Revised Sakar Murli dated 31.01.08, pg 2 published by BKs in Hindi, narrated by ShivBaba through Brahma Baba; translated by a PBK; the words within brackets in the English version have been added by the translator to clarify the meaning)

"Yah mata bhi hai toh Brahma Baba bhi hai. Likhtey hain ShivBaba care of Brahma. Toh mata bhi ho jaati hai toh pita bi ho jaataa. Ab bachchon ko is pita ki dil par chadhnaa hai kyonki inmay hee ShivBaba pravesh hotey hain. Yah jab guarantee detey hain ki haan Baba yah bachcha bahut achcha serviceable hai, sabhi ko sukhh deney vala ai. Mansa-vaachaa-karmanaa kisko dukhh nahee detaa hai tab hee ShivBaba kee dil par chadh saktaa hai. Mansa-vaachaa-karmanaa say jo bolo unsay sabko sukhh miley. Dukhh kisko nahee dena hai. Dukhh deney ka vichaar pehley mansaa may aataa hai fir karmanaa may aaney say paap bantaa hai. Mansaa toofaan toh jaroor aayengey parantu karmanaa may kabhi nahee aao." (Brahmakumariyon dwara prakaashit revised Sakar Murli, dinaank 31.01.08, pg 2)

“This one is mother as well as Brahma Baba. (Children) write – ShivBaba C/o Brahma. So, this one is the mother as well as the Father. Now children have to find a place in the heart of this Father because ShivBaba enters only in him. When this one gives a guarantee that – yes, Baba, this child is very nice serviceable, gives happiness to everyone, does not give sorrow to anyone through thoughts, words or actions, only then can he find a place in ShivBaba’s heart. Whatever you speak through your thoughts, words and actions should cause happiness to everyone. One should not give sorrows to anyone. The thought to give sorrows emerges first in the mind, and then one accumulates sins by bringing that in actions. Storms would certainly emerge in the mind, but one should never translate them into actions.” (Revised Sakar Murli dated 31.01.08, pg 2 published by BKs in Hindi, narrated by ShivBaba through Brahma Baba; translated by a PBK; the words within brackets in the English version have been added by the translator to clarify the meaning)

"Agar koi ranj hota (naaraaj) hota hai toh Baap say aakar poocho – Baba is baat say hamaarey say yah naaraaj rahtey hain, toh Baba samjhaayengey. Koi bhi baat pehley mansa may aati hai. Vaacha bhi karmanaa hee ho gayaa. Agar bachchon ko maa-baap kee aasheervaad leni hai toh Shrimat par chalnaa hai. Yah badee guhya baat hai jo ek ko hee maata pitaa kahtey hain. Yah Brahma Baap bhi hai toh badee Maa bhi hai. Ab yah Baba kisko Maa kahey? Yah mata (Brahma) ab kisko Maa kahey? Is Maa kee toh Maa koi ho nahee saktee. Jaisey ShivBaba ka koi Baap nahee, aisey inhay apnee koi Maa nahee." (Brahmakumariyon dwara prakaashit revised Sakar Murli, dinaank 31.01.08, pg 2)

“If anyone becomes displeased (with you), then come to the Father and ask – Baba this one remains displeased with me on this matter; then Baba would explain. Anything first comes in the mind. Speech is also an action only. If the children are to obtain the good wishes of the Mother and the Father, then one should follow the Shrimat. This is a very secret matter that only ‘one’ is called the Mother and the Father. This one is Father Brahma as well as a senior mother. Well whom should this Baba call as Mother? Now whom should this mother (Brahma) call as Mother? This mother cannot have any Mother. Just as ShivBaba does not have any Father, this one does not have any mother.” (Revised Sakar Murli dated 31.01.08, pg 2 published by BKs in Hindi, narrated by ShivBaba through Brahma Baba; translated by a PBK; the words within brackets in the English version have been added by the translator to clarify the meaning)

"Mukhya baat bachchon ko yah samjhaatey hain ki agar mansa, vaachaa, karmanaa kisko dukh dengey toh dukh paayengey aur pad bhrasht ho padengey. Sachchey sahib kay aagey sachcha rahnaa hai, insay bhi sachcha rahnaa hai. Yah Dada hee certificate dengey ki Baba yah bachcha badaa sapoot hai. Baba mahima toh kartey hain. Jo serviceable bachchey hain tan-man-dhan say service kartey hain, kabhi bhi kisko dukh nahee detey hain, vahee BapDada aur Maa kee dil par chadhtey hain. Iskee dil par chadhey mana unkay takht par chadhey." (Brahmakumariyon dwara prakaashit revised Sakar Murli, dinaank 31.01.08, pg 2)

“The main subject explained to the children is that – if you cause pain to anyone through thoughts, words or actions, then you will get sorrows and you will lose your post. One should remain true to the true Master (sachcha sahib) as well as to this one. This Dada alone would give a certificate that – Baba, this child is very worthy. Baba praises. Only those serviceable children, who serve through body, mind and wealth, never give sorrows to anyone can find place in the hearts of BapDada and the Mother. Finding a place in the heart of this one means finding a place in His heart.” (Revised Sakar Murli dated 31.01.08, pg 2 published by BKs in Hindi, narrated by ShivBaba through Brahma Baba; translated by a PBK; the words within brackets in the English version have been added by the translator to clarify the meaning)

"Brahman unko kaha jaata hai jo paavan rahtey hain. Saaraa madaar hai hee pavitrata par. Isko kahaa jaataa hai apavitra patit duniya.....Ab tum eeshwariya santaan baney hee isliye ho ki paavan duniya ke maalik banein. Brahman-Brahmani athvaa Brahmakumar-Kumari kahlaakar yadi patit hotey hain ya vikaar may jaatey hain toh vah BK nahee huay. Brahman kabhi vikaar may nahee jaatey. Vikaar may jaaney vaaley ko Shudra kahaa jaataa hai." (Brahmakumariyon dwara prakaashit revised Sakar Murli, dinaank 01.02.08, pg 1)

“Those who lead a pure life are called Brahmins. Everything depends only on purity. This is called an impure sinful world.....Now you have become Godly children only to become masters of the pure world. If, after calling themselves as Brahman-Brahmanis or Brahmakumar-kumaris, they become sinful or indulge in lust, then they are not BKs. Brahmins never indulge in lust. Those who indulge in lust are called Shudras.” (Revised Sakar Murli dated 01.02.08, pg 1published by BKs in Hindi, narrated by ShivBaba through Brahma Baba; translated by a PBK; the words within brackets in the English version have been added by the translator to clarify the meaning)

"Achchi reeti Baap ko Yaad karengey toh Baap bhi madad dengey. Tum kahaan Murli chalaaney may moonjh jaayengey toh bhi ShivBaba pravesh kar aaye Murli chalaayengey. Bachchon ko pataa nahee padtaa ki ShivBaba aakar madad kartey hain. Samajhtey hain hamney aaj achchi Murli chalaai. Arey aaj achchi chalaai, kal kyon nahee chalaatey thay. Tumko yah bhi pataa thodey hee padtaa hai – ShivBaba boltey hain ya Brahma boltey hain! ShivBaba kahtey hain – Bachchey, tum meri eeshwariya aulaad ho, merey ko Yaad karo. Aisey aur koi kah na sakey. Mai hee inmay pravesh kar kah saktaa hoon. Mai gyaan saagar hoon na. Tum gyaani too aatma ban rahey ho. Toh jo Baap say Yoga rakhtey hain toh Baap bhi aakar madad kartey hain. Deh-abhimaani Yaad thodey hee karengey. Baap ko jaroor Yaad karnaa hai. Ahankaar nahee aanaa chaahiye – mainey achchi Murli chalaai. Nahee, samajhnaa chaahiye ShivBaba nay aakar Murli chalaai. Ghari-ghari ShivBaba ko Yaad karnaa chaahiye." (Brahmakumariyon dwara prakaashit revised Sakar Murli, dinaank 01.02.08, pg 2)

“If you remember the Father nicely then the Father will also help. Even if you get confused anywhere while narrating the Murli, ShivBaba would enter (in you) and narrate Murli. Children do not come to know that ShivBaba comes and helps. They feel that today they have narrated Murli very nicely. Arey, if you narrated nicely today, why did you not used to narrate it nicely yesterday? You also don’t know that – Is it ShivBaba who speaks or is it Brahma who speaks (through me)! ShivBaba says – Children, you are my Godly children. Remember me. Nobody else can say like this. Only I can enter in this one and tell. I am an ocean of knowledge, am I not? You are becoming knowledgeful souls. So, those who have Yoga (i.e. connection of the intellect) with the Father then the Father also comes and helps. The body conscious ones will not remember. One certainly has to remember the Father. One should not feel egotistic that – I narrated Murli nicely. No, one should think that – ShivBaba came and narrated Murli. One should remember the Father every moment.” (Revised Sakar Murli dated 01.02.08, pg 2 published by BKs in Hindi, narrated by ShivBaba through Brahma Baba; translated by a PBK; the words within brackets in the English version have been added by the translator to clarify the meaning)

"Har baat may allround purushaarth karnaa chaahiye. Aisey bhi nahee ki yah kaam inka hai, ham kyon karein, Baba allround kaam kartey hain na. Bachchon kee chalan theek nahee rahtee toh fir naam badnaam karaatey hain. Baap kahtey hain mera bankar aur fir ultaa kaam kartey toh pad bhrasht ho jaataa hai. Aisey mat samjho ki yah Brahma Baba direction detey hain. ShivBaba Yaad rahnaa chaahiye. Bachchon ko samajhnaa hai duniya ko paavan banaaney ka bojha sir par hai. Ham responsible hain. Bhaarat ko paavan banaaney kee bahut responsibility hai. Yagya ka har yek kaarya responsiblitiy say karnaa hai. Koi gaflat na ho tab Baba bhi regard dengey. Nahee toh Dharmaraj aisee sajaa khilaatey hain jo kabhi jail may bhi nahee khaai hogi. Isliye Baap kahtey hain vinaash honay kay pehley sab vikarma Yoga say bhasma karo." (Brahmakumariyon dwara prakaashit revised Sakar Murli, dinaank 01.02.08, pg 2&3)

“One should make allround efforts in every matter. It is not as if this is his task. Why should I do? Baba does allround work, does he not? If children do not behave properly, they cause defamation (of the Yagya). The Father says – After becoming my child, if you act in an opposite way, you would lose your post. Don’t think that this Brahma Baba gives a direction. One should remember ShivBaba. Children should understand that the responsibility of purifying the world lies on our shoulders. We are responsible. There is a very big responsibiltiy of purifying India. One should perform every task of the Yagya with responsibilty. Baba would also give regard if no mistake is committed. Otherwise Dharmaraj gives such punishments which you would not have suffered even in the jail. That is why the Father says - burn all the sins through Yoga.” (Revised Sakar Murli dated 01.02.08, pg 2&3 published by BKs in Hindi, narrated by ShivBaba through Brahma Baba; translated by a PBK; the words within brackets in the English version have been added by the translator to clarify the meaning)

"Jo kaam vash ho jaatey hain unhay Braahman nahee kah saktey. Maya bahut pichaadegi parantu karmendriyon say koi kaam nahee karnaa hai. Familiarity ka halkaa nashaa – yah bhi Maya ka nashaa hai. Baba nay samjhaaya hai is say bhi bojha chadh jayega. Tum vyabhichaari ban gaye. Eeshwariya aulaad may yah kaam-krodh aadi shaitaan thodey hee hotey hain ... BK vah jinki pratigya kee hui hai ki paap ka kaam kabhi nahee karengey. Yah Yaad rakhnaa hai. Kiskee dil ko dukhaanaa nahee hai. Agar dukhaatey hain toh ShivBaba ka bachcha nahee thahraa. ShivBaba aatey hee hain sukhh deney." (Brahmakumariyon dwara prakaashit revised Sakar Murli, dinaank 01.02.08, pg 3)

“Those who become slaves to lust cannot be called Brahmins. Maya will trouble a lot, but one should not do anything (under the influence of vices) through the bodily organs. Even a slight intoxication of familiarity – this is also an intoxication of Maya. Baba has explained that one would accumulate burden (of sins) even through this. You became licentious. Godly children should not have the devils of lust, anger, etc ... BK is that person who has taken a pledge that he/she will never perform a sinful task. One should remember this. One should not cause pain to anybody’s heart. If he/she does so, then he/she is not ShivBaba’s child. ShivBaba comes only to give happiness.” (Revised Sakar Murli dated 01.02.08, pg 3 published by BKs in Hindi, narrated by ShivBaba through Brahma Baba; translated by a PBK; the words within brackets in the English version have been added by the translator to clarify the meaning)

"Baap kee Shrimat par chalnaa hai tab responsible vah rahengey. Brahma kee mat bhi gaayi hui hai. Inki mat par chalney say bhi responsible Baap ho jaayega. Toh kyon na apney say responsibility utaar deni chaahiye. Baap-Dada, dono kee mat mash-hoor hai. Mata kee mat par bhi chalnaa chaahiye kyonki mata guru banti hai. Vah maat-pitaa alag hain. Is samay mata ko guru banaaney ka silsila chaltaa hai." (Brahmakumariyon dwara prakaashit revised Sakar Murli, dinaank 01.02.08, pg 3)

“One should follow the Shrimat. Then He will be responsible. Brahma’s opinion is also famous. Even if you follow the opinion of this one, the Father would become responsible (for it). So, why should we not relieve ourself of the responsibility? The opinion of both Baap and Dada is famous. One should also follow the opinion of the mother because mother becomes guru. That mother and Father is different. The trend of making mothers as gurus begins now.” (Revised Sakar Murli dated 01.02.08, pg 3 published by BKs in Hindi, narrated by ShivBaba through Brahma Baba; translated by a PBK; the words within brackets in the English version have been added by the translator to clarify the meaning)

"Jaisey shikaari log koi say shikaar karaatey hain toh saari taiyyaari kar shikaar saamney laakar sirf unsay shikaar karaatey hain. Yahaan shikaar karaanaa hai maataaon say. Baap kahtey hain shikaar maataaon kay aagey ley aanaa hai. Maataen bahut hain. Naam ek ka bala ho jaataa hai. Tum shakti sena ho. Shakti dynasty nahee kahengey. Shakti sena kee mukhya hai Jagdamba, Kaali, Saraswati." (Brahmakumariyon dwara prakaashit revised Sakar Murli, dinaank 03.02.08, pg 3)

“For example, when hunters make someone to hunt, they make all the preparations and bring the prey in front of them and make them to just hunt (i.e. kill the prey). Here we have to make the mothers to hunt. The Father says you have to bring the prey before the mothers. There are a lot of mothers. One becomes famous. You are Shakti army. It will not be called Shakti dynasty. The head of the Shakti army is Jagdamba, Kali, Saraswati.” (Revised Sakar Murli dated 03.02.08, pg 3 published by BKs in Hindi, narrated by ShivBaba through Brahma Baba; translated by a PBK; the words within brackets in the English version have been added by the translator to clarify the meaning)
