Prior to coming into spirituality, as a sporty teenager I was interested in many sports, participating and also watching.
Nowadays, whenever I come across cricket, soccer, tennis, Olympics, etc being broadcast (which is virtually every street corner)......I do not bother about the outcome, whether individual or by nation.
Does this also come under loss of "material interest" ? I'll probably watch some of the forthcoming World Cup soccer, the biggest sporting event, but somehow feel the results will be "fixed" anyway as according to a "drama" (BK or not), so it doesn't matter who wins or loses.

Does anyone also have this disinterested feeling regarding competitions ? This thread is about material ambitions, which really means competitiveness, not necessarily measured by monetary terms (though much of materiality is).

I am glad people are still expressing themselves on this thread..I started because affects me so much...I grew up 'poor' and never really changed my 'status', I still don't have a profession (if one would give more $$) , so my mind is a little stuck on the concept: to make money to survive !! no, it's not good, I do not have ambition, thanks to my 'lokik' father ( passed away), or my grand parents, or past lives or BKs , never had the enthusiasm and faith/self worth to have I what I want...anyway, I also lost interest in competitions, regarding this WorldCup, is already fixed by FIFA: goes to Germany !!! by the way: I am brazilian and I love soccer !!!

For me it is not disinterest, but detachment - i remain very interested in certain sports, especially football (soccer), but the pre-gyan emotional attachment to certain teams (or if neutral, to the underdog), is no longer there - i enjoy the skill and drama of the game without being emotionally affected by it - i prefer this "elevated" view to the old "its not a matter of life and death - it's more important than that" scenario... Hi Joel,

If you are refering to the World Cup, yes, I am sure; when they made the schedule for the games, they put weak teams w/ strong teams on purpose, and the "balls' (whatever they are called) to draw the names were 'corrupted'...remember France? the brazilian goalkeeper ? unfortunately it lost the real reason to play, now is all about money, the big companies that sponsor and if the country that it is hosting is doing well politically !

I want to be rich, any other idea? Laughing

^^Although since Australia has finally qualified for the World Cup for the 1st time in 30+ years, I have to admit I will be probably a little "partisan" Laughing
