Hi All,

just came across the Wikipedia section on the BKs. As you will see the 7 Day Course sections are empty and so perhaps an opportunity for everyone BK and Non BKs alike to contibute to a "definitive" description of the BKs.

Cheers

Greetings,

Andy is right in that we need people to edit the page from time to time. I would also encourage Arjun/PBKs (as this organization does exist) to do the same. I agree with the Admin in placing the resource page here. I mention this for the following reasons as of 3/26/06:

1. It would appear that the information that was placed on the wikipedia was edited and is now just a glowing report on the BKs. They have removed all mention of XBKchat, the Abuse Report, members having post BK (psychological) issues etc. They have also removed any mention of the PBKs too and the link to their site is no longer up.

2. I would say that if any one knows how to edit the wikipedia that perhaps they could schedule a review of the page from time to time so that at the very minimum we can have a link up to XBKchat on the page. All current links are to BK sites.

Below is the current message under discussions placed by a BK.

B.K.s beware !
This is a polite warning to followers of Brahma Kumari Raja Yoga ...

Beware, this is not an advert for Brahma Kumari Raja Yoga. This is an objective definition of you and your path.
If you are new to Raja Yoga and unsure of what is being written here, please check with your senior sister for accuracy before removing or editing facts.

Thank you.

I personally think the public at large would be better suited to be advised to be BEWARE of any organization that asks you to check with the “SS” before thinking on your own. Shocked Just in case the new student posts some of the truth (practices/beliefs) and secrecy! Idea

Beware?? Confused

in other words, BEWARE of any information disseminated which is NOT an advert! Laughing

Certainly reinforces the impression that you are completely discouraged from doing any of your own thinking. Same as any cult I guess Smile

Just found this post on the Aust BK forum ~

Some one has done a lot of work on editing the article, so it now includes everything but a link to Eugene's report on child abuse.

Yes, some one has done a very good job indeed and hopefully will keep a copy of what they put in so as to keep it current. I was particularly impressed with the fact that they also included the PBK site which shows integrity on their part (as they do exist).

So, Joel do you know how to set up a poll to see how folks found this site? Wikipedia, Google, cult sites etc. I am most curious. Wink

Interesting , B.K. supporter at first removed ;

• the external links to non-BKWSU websites,
• then section refering to the P.B.K.s and others,
• and then the section on controversy such as child abuse with the BKWSU and *THEN*
• erased the whole article.

For those interested in learning how to follow edits and revisions, follow this link ;

Joel is correct to point out there subtle ways to address matters and that working with the system is best.

If individuals are interested in contributing and protecting the article, best sign up with a user name and also contribute more widely on related subjects. If you create a good reputation, you can then become an admin which allows you to report and block persistent vandals. If you are registered, you can have a " watchlist " and receive updates of page changes.

Its a fantastic open source experiment and resource.

I'm reading that rather than simply revert someone else's changes, it is recommended to improve on them. Thus if a BK includes the content of the 7-day course (why not, after all it is a fact that the BKs teach such things) one can modify the article to a neutral POV, i.e. "the BKs teach that ... " without passing judgment.

I'd like to formally thank the Wikipedia project and its various BK/NBK/XBK contributors for arousing the passions of this sometimes sleepy online gathering.

Thanks for this tip. (Wish the same could be be done with murlis Confused )

There's extra good stuff added such as the research paper "Surviving Transplantation: The Brahma Kumaris in the Western World". See the bibliography section in the wikipedia.
